Red Sox vs. Indians lineups: Gimme five!

It’s Boston’s last game ever against the “Indians.” Good.

MLB: Cleveland Indians at Boston Red Sox
All smiles, and out of nowhere.

The Red Sox can continue their improbable September turnaround with a fifth straight win this afternoon against the Indians behind emergency starter Kutter Crawford (1:10 p.m., NESN, TBS out-of-market).

This will be the last time the Red Sox will ever play the Cleveland “Indians,” and, in short, good. At least a small part of this change was brought about by friend of the program Cleveland Frowns, and hopefully he’ll be happier next year when the Guardians slide into the place the problematic name is departing. Though to be honest I was always the mad one, which I’m sure you would have guessed. Thankfully the name change won’t retroactively affect Major League, which is good because it’s just the best.

Speaking of the best: Crawford’s on the mound, making his big-league debut, after Nick Pivetta joined the COVID list party. He faces Zach Plesac, another son of an MLB veteran, and one a little better than baby Quantrill. As for the Sox lineup, you bet your sweet butt that good luck charm Jack López is back in there, as he’s still undefeated in his big-league career. Rafael Devers gets the day off, with Bobby Dalbec starting at third base, but so does José Ramirez, so we’ll call it even. Here are the full lineups:
