Sox Mangle Mets, Pad Wild-Card Lead

Schwarber leads off the bottom of the fourth with a double to left. A single to right by Bogaerts puts runners at the corners, and a double play puts the Sox in double digits as Schwarber scores to make it 10-1. A runner is at second with one out in the top of the fifth. He moves to third on a fly out and scores on Lindor’s infield single to make it 10-2. With a runner at first and one out in the bottom of the inning, Vázquez doubles to the left-field corner to put two men in scoring position. Renfroe scores on a groundout to make it 11-2, while Vázquez moves to third on the play. A pop out ends the inning. In the bottom of the sixth, now 11-3, runners are at first and second with one out. An error at third loads the bases, and Schwarber scores on a groundout to make it 12-3. A fly out ends the inning. In the top of the ninth, now 12-4, Nimmo leads off with a double to the left-field corner. He moves to third on a single and scores on a force out to make it 12-5. That is the final as Boston pushes the streak to seven. The Sox have a two-game lead in the Wild Card.
