Welcome back to another edition of The Over the Monster Podcast. As is the case most every week, it is Matt Collins and Bryan Joiner coming at you to talk about all the latest happenings in the world of the Red Sox. Also as is the case every week, just as a note this was recorded before Tuesday’s game against the Mets.

We spent the early portion of this show talking about all things Chris Sale, touching a little on the news he created last weekend with his vaccination status and spending a lot of time talking about his last outing. The stuff was down, but the results were good. How concerning is that? Should he make the start on Wednesday or wait to pitch against the Yankees? And where do we stand on who starts a potential Wildcard Game at this point?

From there, we move on to talking about Garrett Whitlock and the injury he suffered on Sunday. It was before the news that he’d hit the injured list, but we touched on a lot of things that are still relevant. We talked about the impact of his loss, and what other pitchers’ roles may look like in his absence. We also talk a little about his longer-term future.

Before closing, we tackle a couple of miscellaneous topics, like the end of the minor-league season, the second base playing time situation, and where we are with the wildcard race. We then finish off with a few listener questions.

We hope you enjoyed today’s show. If so, please subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts and leave a rating and a review. We’ll be back with you next week.
