The road to the postseason has been a strange one for the Red Sox, and for a long time recently it has looked like the wildcard race is going to go right down to the wire. That is still very much on the table, but they’re at least in a good position to get home field. (Sean McAdam; Boston Sports Journal)

Garrett Whitlock did have to leave Sunday’s game, and his status still isn’t entirely known. It’s a good time to appreciate how good he’s been. (Rob Bradford; WEEI)

Speaking of that bullpen, the closer situation for the Red Sox is going to be a bit murky going forward. (John Tomase; NBC Sports Boston)

Jen McCaffrey has a cool story on the Red Sox relief corps and where they find a little bit of inspiration around them in the bullpen. (Jen McCaffrey; The Athletic)

As many expected, Triston Casas will indeed be called up to Worcester to end his season. (Chris Cotillo; Masslive)

Casas also happened to lead this week’s Monday Morning Ten Pack. (BP Prospect Staff; Baseball Prospectus)
