We’re almost to the finish line. With the regular season now inside a month to the end, with the Red Sox having just 20 more games on the docket before the regular season concludes, the American League Wildcard race is still totally up for grabs. That, in turn, means there is not a whole lot of room for error for the Red Sox and other teams, which leaves Alex Cora with a tough job. He needs to put his team in the best position to win every single game. It’s no longer about saving players for the long season. We’re at the end, and every game is crucial.
To that end, as we have talked about recently the roster puzzle that is the Red Sox lineup is difficult. The best offensive lineup looks a whole lot different from the best defensive lineup, and we’ve seen in recent weeks that both can cost the team on any given day. It’s a toss-up on which group to roll with on what day. And for this week’s FanPost Friday, we’re curious how you deal with this situation. Do you make sure you get Bobby Dalbec in the lineup every day? If so, who sits? Where does Kiké Hernández play? Who is the DH? Or, just more generally, what’s more important to you between the offense and the defense? And note, for this exercise we’ll assume guys like Xander Bogaerts and Christian Arroyo are healthy.
