Marcelo Mayer, SS: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 E

Miguel Ugueto, RF: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 SB

Bryan Gonzalez, DH: 1-4, 1 BB, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 K

Tyler Miller, 3B: 2-5, 1 2B, 1 R, 1 K

Darel Belen, 1B: 2-4, 2 2B, 1 R, 2 RBI, 2 K

Phillip Sikes, CF: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K

Jose Garcia, C: 2-4, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 K

Luis De La Rosa (SP; W): 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K

Colten Brewer: 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 2 K

It was a big day at the plate for the FCL squad, with 14 hits coming in as a team. Two of them came from Mayer, who did make another error as he continues to have some issues in the field, also continued to get it done at the plate. After two more hits in this game, he’s up to an .865 OPS in his first taste of professional ball. The best game went to Belen, who knocked a pair of doubles in the game. He was an intriguing sleeper with his power coming into the season, but it’s been a struggle in 2021. Between the FCL and Salem, he’s hitting just .155/.318/.239 on the year.

DSL Red L 0-5

Jose Mendez, SS: 1-2, 1 2B, 1 BB

Cesar Soto (SP; L): 3.1 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K

DSL Blue L 7-8

Juan Chacon, CF: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 R, 1 K, 1 SB

Diego Saavedra, DH: 1-2, 1 3B, 1 BB, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 K

Yordanny Monegro (SP): 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 K

It was not a great day down in the DSL, though the Blue squad did have a bit of a wild game. They had double the number of walks as hits — 10 to five — but just missed the win. That said, Chacon has been coming on of late. The top international signing from a couple of years ago, the outfielder hit a bit of a slump in the middle of the summer, but August has been treating him better. The power still really isn’t coming through in a big way, but his plate discipline was one of the things that made him so exciting when he signed. This month Chacon is hitting .339/.466/.373.
