We are back for Episode 24 of the Red Sox On Deck Podcast, your go-to source for everything prospects on the Over the Monster Podcast Network. Shelly and Bob opened this episode talking about our miserable Tuesday watching 14 innings over 9 hours of baseball at Yankee Stadium. They discussed some recent transactions relating to Tanner Houck, Kyle Schwarber, Travis Shaw, and more.

Baseball America released their Midseason Organization Talent Rankings. With the Red Sox landing in the ninth spot, was this deserved and how will Jarren Duran’s “graduation” affect those rankings. Also, some thoughts on the Giants, Rays, Marlins, and Dodgers systems and how they landed on the list.

In the past week at the minor-league level, Yairo Muñoz’s 35-game hitting streak finally came to an end, Nick Yorke’s 21-game hitting streak ended, Chih-Jung Liu struck out ten for his third great start in a row, Chris Murphy threw seven innings of one-hit ball, and Jeter Downs broke up a miserable month-long stretch by homering in both ends of a doubleheader on Tuesday night.

Finally, we each highlight a minor league player who we haven’t chronicled enough this year. Shelly discussed high-A prospect Brandon Walter who has struck out 100 batters in 65 innings this year and has the command to have a chance as a back-end starter despite being drafted in round 26 in 2019. Bob brought up Ronaldo Hernández of Portland, who may not be the catcher of the future without robot umps, as he only has a .287 OBP this year with limited framing and receiving skills. He has popped 11 HR in 99 games but will need to show more to be the replacement for Christian Vázquez.
