A chat about the reinforcements

Welcome back to another episode of The Over the Monster Podcast, your spot to catch up on the latest in Red Sox baseball. After taking the week off last week for vet-related issues, Matt and Bryan are back for another episode. This week’s show, it should be noted, was recorded Tuesday afternoon before both ends of the doubleheader.

That timing was pretty important in the tone of the show, as the last we had seen when we spoke was the three-game speak. Much of the early portion of the episode was spent on Chris Sale’s return to the mound. We talked about what his performance said about what to expect from him moving forward as well as what kind of impact he can have on the rest of the pitching staff. We also discuss whether or not the team made a mistake in waiting as long as they did to activate their ace.

After that, we move on to some of the reinforcements on the offensive side of things. We talk about the addition of Travis Shaw, and how much of an upgrade he really is as well as what kind of role we expect him to play. We also talk about Kyle Schwarber, both in his relation to the first base situation as well as where he slots in for the lineup.

We hope you enjoyed today’s show. If so, please subscribe wherever you listen to podcasts, and give us a rating and a review. We’ll be back with you next week.
