Welcome back to another episode of the Over the Monster Podcast, your spot to get a weekly check in on the current state of the Red Sox. As always, Matt and Bryan are here to take you through today’s episode.
With the trade deadline just a couple days away at this point, that was clearly the major topic for this week’s show. We started off this one talking about how possible it is that the team actually does nothing, and what that would mean for their standing in the American League East. After that, we move onto more specific discussions around the deadline, including whether or not the Red Sox really need to push for a starting pitcher, our favorite targets for first base and in the bullpen, and what to make of the rumors that the Red Sox called about Starling Marte.
From there, we move more into what is happening with players currently with the Red Sox. We talk about the struggles for Jarren Duran early in his career and how they reflect the growing gap between pitching in Triple-A and the majors. We also talk about potential paths for Tanner Houck’s role this year and the possibility of Jud Fabian not signing.
