Red Sox vs. Yankees lineup: Tanner Houck returns, hopefully to bury New York

The young gun will make his first start since April in a critical AL East series opener.

Let’s do it!

The Red Sox can make life very difficult for the hated Yankees when they face off tonight in a huge series behind Tanner Houck (7:10 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network) in his first start since April 18.

With the trade deadline approaching, this is a do-or-die series for New York, which enters the extended weekend seven games behind the Sox. The Yankees have finally scraped together a little bit of momentum, having gone 7-3 over their last 10 games, and rather than watch them get any feistier, now would be the time to bury them forever, hence the headline. If Houck pitches anything like he did the first start this year, when he went five incredibly strong innings, the Sox can take the first step toward doing just that.

Jordan Montgomery starts for New York a week after going six so-so innings against Boston. Him being a lefty, the Jarren Duran lineup is again out, but with Danny Santana headed to the injured list Rafael Devers is hitting in the two spot. The Yankees lineup is hilarious. That’s all I have to say, even if it comes back to bite me. Rob Brantly! Tyler Wade? Are these your kings?!? LOL. Here’s everyone:
