Welcome back to another episode of The Red Sox Pre-Cap Podcast, your home on the Over the Monster Podcast network to hear the latest from the most recent series as well as a sneak preview towards the series coming up. Today, we look back at a four-game sweep of the Royals and ahead to a three-game set across the country in Oakland.
The Red Sox rode a wave of comebacks and a blowout to a four-game sweep of the Royals. In the first game on Monday, Garrett Richards tested out a new changeup grip and an altered approach to mixed results. Richards gave up five runs in the first two innings, but settled down over his last four frames, not allowing a run. Kiké Hernández led off with a home run for the second consecutive day, and Hunter Renfroe knocked two dingers to give the Sox the victory.
On Tuesday, Nick PIvetta struggled to the tune of six runs allowed over 4 1⁄3 innings. However, he was picked up by the bats, who came back three times in the game to earn the win.
In the penultimate game on Wednesday, Martín Pérez gave the Red Sox the start they needed, going 5 1⁄3 innings while allowing only two runs. On offense, the Red Sox came back again around a couple of rain delays to earn the win.
Finally, Bosotn earned the sweep in the fourth game of the set in grand fashion, tossing a 15-spot on the board on the strength of five RBI each from Rafael Devers and Danny Santana. Nathan Eovaldi tossed seven shutout innings and Matt Andreiese finished off the game, tossing two innings allowing one run.
Up next for the Red Sox are the Oakland A’s for three games on the road. Don’t forget to subscribe to the Over The Monster Podcast Network so you never miss an episode.
