There have been a whole lot of changes around baseball the last couple of years, some because of COVID, others just because. One of the latter is surrounding the MLB Draft, which kicks off on Sunday in Denver, now a part of All-Star week after being held in early June for years before this. In addition to the time of year being changed, the number of rounds has changed as well. While the draft was once 40 rounds, and last year it was only five due to COVID, things have settled in at 20 rounds for this year. Here’s how the schedule breaks down exactly:

Day 1

Date: July 11

Time: 7:00 PM ET

Rounds: 1, Competitive Balance A

TV: MLB Network, ESPN

Day 2

Date: July 12

Time: 1:00 PM ET

Rounds: 2-10, Competitive Balance B

Day 3

Date: July 13

Time: 12:00 PM ET

Rounds: 11-20

The Red Sox hold the fourth overall pick in this one, making their selection after the Pirates, Rangers, and Tigers, in that order. We’re going to be with you for all 20 selections the Red Sox make over the next three days. We’ll have analysis on every selection made by Boston, as well as a draft tracker of our own to track both the players selected and their signing status after the draft’s conclusion. We hope you’ll stick around for the week, because we’ll have everything you need.
