We are back for Episode 17 of the Red Sox On Deck Podcast, your go-to source for everything prospects on the Over the Monster Podcast Network. In this episode, Shelly is joined by the great Jake Devereaux as Bob is enjoying some R&R at the beach.

The episode starts with some discussion on Connor Wong’s promotion to the majors and how surprising it was. Was this just an easy 40-man roster move or does the team “like” Connor Wong more than some of the depth catchers? Jack Leiter, a player who is placed with the Red Sox in mock drafts had a great outing in the College World Series and a “heated” debate ensues. Should the Red Sox take a solid college starter or go with the “safer” college bat?

The crew moves to Worcester and discusses Marcus Wilson, who is having a great season so far in his first taste of Triple-A. Will he make his debut before Duran? Is he blocked and probably just an interesting trade chip at this point? Tanner Houck returned to the mound and has looked really good so far. Who will he replace when he returns to Fenway? Kyle Hart is also pitching well. Does he deserve a chance to get a spot start in the majors? Shelly wants him to but Jake buts the brakes on that.

Jake and Shelly gush over Brayan Bello and Chris Murphy’s recent performance in Double-A and High-A, respectively. Also, should Gilberto Jimenez stop switch-hitting and Eduardo Lopez made a surprise appearance in Salem.
