Good morning and welcome to another edition of “The Red Seat” podcast. This is a very important week for the Red Sox as the team gets set to take on the second-place Tampa Bay Rays in an important three-game set at the Trop. The Rays have been sliding since they got the bad news about Tyler Glasnow, dropping six games in a row. To combat their slide and add a jolt of energy to the team they’ve decided to go ahead and promote the best prospect in all of baseball—20-year-old Wander Franco.

Even though Franco isn’t able to legally purchase a beer he has all of the skills that you want in an All-Star hitter. Franco makes a ton of contact, much of it hard contact, runs the bases well, and plays solid defense. He is one of only two players in recent memory to have an 80 grade, the highest possible grade, given to his hit tool. Who is the other? That would be Vlad Guerrero Jr.

To combat this jolt of energy the Rays are giving their club Keaton and I believe that the Red Sox should counter by promoting Jarren Duran. Duran is dominating at Triple-A. As our own Matt Collins noted he is on pace for 50 home runs this season to go along with his electric speed on the base paths. The Red Sox have been struggling to find a stable option in the leadoff spot all season—here’s your answer.
