Welcome back to another episode of the Red Sox Pre-Cap Podcast, your spot on the Over The Monster Podcast Network to catch up on the series that was and preview the series coming up next on the schedule. In today’s show, we take a look back at a quick two-game stint in Atlanta before flying out to Kansas City for a three-game set against an Andrew Benintendi-less Royals.
The Red Sox and Braves kicked off their series at Truist Park, with Eduardo Rodriguez facing off against the young starter, Tucker Davidson. It was another rough outing for Rodriguez as he gave up six hits and four earned runs in four innings. On the bright side, he did rack up eight punchouts and only walked one batter. Rodriguez has had a very tough schedule, with matchups against the Astros, Blue Jays, and Yankees. It doesn’t get easier for him as he will face the Rays in his next start. The offense, a trend, was able to bail Rodriguez out, and they were led by Alex Verdugo and Rafael Devers, with three and four RBI respectively.
The final game was a matchup against Garrett Richards and Ian Anderson. Garrett Richards was very hittable in this outing and went four innings with four earned runs while only striking out three. In his previous couple of starts, he has been using more of a two-pitch approach but really turned it up a notch in this game. He threw his four-seam fastball 76 percent of the time and did not throw one of his trademark curveballs.
Now, the Red Sox head towards the Midwest to take on the Royals for a three-game set that begins Friday evening. We hope you enjoyed today’s show. If so, please subscribe and recommend us to your friends, and also leave a rating and a review.
