The Red Sox are playing great baseball early on this season, sitting with a 21-13 record as we speak here on Sunday morning. There have been a lot of reasons for their hot start, but if you have to boil it down to just one portion of the roster I think you can safely point to the core of the lineup. And a major part of that core has been Alex Verdugo, who is hitting .311/.368/.487 for a 135 wRC+. In other words, he’s been 35 percent better than the league-avearge hitter. For some more context, he finished last season with a 126 wRC+.

I bring all of that up because with Verdugo’s hot start, our friends over at BreakingT have come out with a new shirt to celebrate his performance and his role on the team. And it has a smart message for all of the other teams out there: Don’t let the kid get hot.

As is the case with all of the shirts from our friends over at BreakingT, these are super comfortable and reasonably priced. Plus, you get to help me out a bit if you buy one, and who doesn’t love that?
