The Red Sox and Tigers finish their three-game series this afternoon (1:10 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-market) with Nathan Eovaldi on the mound for the Boston Boys.
Eovaldi cruised last time over the Rangers, and looks to keep it going against a suddenly feisty Tigers team. Spencer Turnbull will start for Detroit. Miguel Cabrera gets his first off day of the series, and with a fielding rotation around diamond, April phenom Akil Baddoo makes his first start of the series in left field, batting ninth.
Alex Verdugo returns to the lineup after being shelved with a sore back, but similarly achy Christian Arroyo is out today as well. I learned this from the beat reporters about an hour before Alex Cora deigned to bestow the information on us, so I have nothing to add except to read my column for today, because I like it when people read my work. Thank you. Also Hunter Renfroe is batting sixth. That’s something.
