Red Sox vs. Tigers lineups: Mize, don’t deceive me!

Martín Pérez faces the former No. 1 overall pick tonight at Fenway.

MLB: Game One-Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox
All this for a “my eyes” pun, smh.

The Red Sox face former No. 1 overall pick Casey Mize and the Tigers tonight at Fenway Park behind Martín Pérez (7:10 p.m., NESN).

Pérez, sitting at at 4.70 ERA on the year, is pretty much right where he’s been his whole career. He’ll look to get the better of a Tigers lineup that put up six runs in a losing effort last night but should, for the greater good, score fewer tonight, because it’s rude to mess up someone else’s house. Mize has been even worse than Pérez but is 24 years old and in his first real season—remember, 2020 doesn’t count aside from Mookie Betts #content. The rest is fake, and Mize’s potential is still very real.

He will face a lineup that includes the big boy Rafael Devers, who returns to the field after a routine day out of the starting lineup. Bobby Dalbec is on the bench, with the resultant open left field spot (thanks, Marwin!) going to Franchy Cordero, who needs to start, and continue, hitting, IMHO.
