The Red Sox and Marlins finish up their series with Boston looking for a sweep (1:10 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-market) behind Eduardo Rodriguez.
The forecast calls for rain again, but with Miami in town you’d expect them to try and get this one in by hook or crook. Maybe that’ll help E-Rod, who has been in a prolonged funk, focus back on the basics—basics like “pitching well.” He’ll square off against Sandy Alcántara, who, like yesterday’s starter Trevor Rogers, is nasty.
But... just as our beautiful Nathan Eovadli outdueled Rogers yesterday, perhaps Rodriguez can outduel his counterpart today, though if there is a rain delay expect the bullpen to get some work in this one. Also because E-Rod is pitching. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. J.D. Martinez is out to start, boo! The rest is all sorts standard, with Alex Verdugo at DH and Danny Santana starting in center. Yay?
