Welcome back to another episode of the Red Sox Pre-Cap Podcast, in which we review the most recent series for the Red Sox (in this case in Texas) and preview the upcoming one (in this case when the Tigers come to Fenway).
This past one was a tough series for the Red Sox as they dropped three of four to the Rangers. On Thursday, the Red Sox bats struggled to get anything going off of Kyle Gibson and only were able to muster three hits on the night. Martín Pérez pitched very well, going 5 2⁄3 innings while striking out seven. On Friday, the Sox bats picked it up a bit in a 6-1 win. Homers from JD Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, and Rafael Devers lead the way, while Nathan Eovaldi had a great bounce-back start going six innings with five strikeouts and allowing only four hits.
Moving ahead to Saturday, it was a bit of a rough outing from Eduardo Rodriguez as the Sox ace got roughed up for eight hits, and four earned runs over five innings. Matt Andriese also struggled, going one inning and allowing three runs to score. Finally on Sunday, the Red Sox bullpen let them down after another great outing from Garrett Richards, who went five innings and struck out seven while only walking 1. Adam Ottavino struggled again charged with three runs (two earned) in two-thirds of an inning of work to blow the lead for the Sox in the 8th.
Up next is a three-game set back in Boston against the Tigers. Don’t forget to subscribe to the Over The Monster Podcast Network so you never miss an episode!
