The Red Sox, as things stand now entering Memorial Day weekend, appear to be caught in a divisional race that will include at least three teams and probably four and will last the entire season. As we sit here Friday morning, they are a full game behind the surging Rays, a full game up on the Yankees, and four and a half games up on the Blue Jays. These are all talented teams who were expected to be in contention for at least a wildcard spot all year, and they are making good on that promise so far.
Of course, the season is still a bit early, although Memorial Day is typically the point on the calendar in which we can really start to evaluate what we’ve seen thus far. And that’s what we’re looking for here on this week’s FanPost Friday. We want you to evaluate not just the Red Sox, but the division as a whole and tell us where you believe the team stands in the AL East. How do you rank the four teams that are expected to remain in contention for most or all of the season?
