Red Sox at Phillies lineups: Keep that energy!

The Sox look to follow up a rousing win tonight in Philadelphia.

Fresh off a miraculous ninth-inning win supplied by a two-out homer from J.D. Martinez, the resilient Red Sox head to Philadelphia to face Aaron Nola and the Phillies (7:05 p.m., NESN).

Well... that was something! I know this post is technically about today’s game, but it’s hard not to want to ride last night’s momentum as far as it will go. Which, as far as the adage goes, lasts until the Sox — who add Danny Santana to the roster today and immediately put him in the leadoff spot — face down Nola, who is putting together another strong season, though one in which he has room to improve. Nola rightly gets overshadowed by at least two other pitchers in the NL East, but he’d easily be the best pitcher on the Sox, which means they’ve got a tough matchup ahead by definition. The Sox’s starting pitching has been good, after all.

Martín Pérez gets the nod for Boston, hoping to continue a string of strong starts. The big news in the lineup today is that Danny Santana is here! He’s batting leadoff, straight into the fire, and playing
