Well, the Red Sox bats woke up. Coming off getting swept by the Orioles, the Red Sox had everything working against the Rays and took all three games for a sweep. Starting in game one with Nick Pivetta, the Red Sox again got great pitching from all starters and the bullpen. Pivetta was a bit wobbly in the beginning of his outing but righted the ship to get through five innings while striking out four.
In game two, it took extra innings and three comebacks to finally put the Rays away in a gritty win that had a real 2018 feeling to it. Hopefully there are a lot more of these to come. Martín Pérez went toe-to-toe with Tyler Glasnow and held his own tossing five innings and striking out six. In the series finale, Nate Eovaldi took the mound for his second start and looked just as sharp as his first going seven innings and striking out seven. J.D. Martinez and kept his hot start going and Christian Vázquez added some power to propel that bats. Both hit over .600 for the series.
