We are back for Episode 8 of the Red Sox On Deck Podcast, your go-to source for everything prospects on the Over the Monster Podcast Network. On this episode, Shelly and Bob open with news and notes about the Alternate Site action. Jarren Duran went double-dong against the Mets alternate squad, along with more quality action from Connor Seabold. Eduard Bazardo made his scoreless MLB debut out of the bullpen as the 27th man against the Twins, and then returned to the Alternate Site and is pitching well.
Shelly and Bob then discussed Bobby Dalbec’s past week where he has brought his average up above .260, struck out less, and used all fields to get some key hits. He is fifth in all of baseball in the Statcast metric for “Barrels per Batted Ball Event”. What does this mean and what other notable sluggers join him in the American League? Also, Garrett Whitlock makes his obligatory but brief weekly appearance as he upped his scoreless streak to nine innings to open his career.
We talked about MLB Pipeline’s Mock Draft where the Red Sox ended up with Kumar Rocker at pick number four, a dream scenario. In Keith Law’s Mock this week, the Sox take Lousiville catcher Henry Davis. For more details, check out last week’s podcast.
Finally, we looked at the offseason OTM Top 20 Prospects. Shelly and Bob each shared a prospect they are higher and lower on than the rankings, their most notable omission, and who they see as the riser, faller, and sleeper of the 2021 minor league season.
