Today is a perfect day for the Red Sox to record their 10th victory of the season.

The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox will play game one of their weekends series this afternoon at Fenway Park (4:05 p.m. EST, NESN, MLBN out-of-market). Thanks to some precipitation, the series opener was postponed on Friday.

The Red Sox, who will be in the City Connect uniforms that were unveiled earlier this month, have nine wins on the season, which is tied with Seattle for the most victories in the AL. However, the Red Sox have a half game lead on the Mariners by virtue of having one fewer losses. Math! The Red Sox’s most recent outing ended in one of those setbacks, with a 4-3 walkoff job by the Minnesota Twins on Thursday halting a nine-game winning streak for Boston.

Nick Pivetta will be tasked with getting the next winning streak started, as he will take the mound for the Red Sox today. Pivetta has been OK in his first two starts, most recently allowing four earned runs over six innings against the Baltimore Orioles. His walk rate sits a bit too high (15.2 percent), as he’s allowed seven free passes in 11 total innings. Here’s hoping he locates a bit better today.

Pivetta will duel with the White Sox’s Dylan Cease. The 25-year-old, who the White Sox brought off the 10-day injured list yesterday, failed to record five innings of work in either of his first two starts this season, getting pulled after 4 23 frames against both the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Angels.

Here is the lineup for today’s game. Kevin Plawecki will stand in for Christian Vazquez, while Marwin Gonzalez takes over first for Bobby Dalbec. In addition, Christian Arroyo’s recently hot bat will stay in the lineup, with Arroyo at second base and Enrique Hernández in center field. Everything else is about what you’d expect for the Red Sox.
