After dropping their first game since the opening weekend on Thursday, the Red Sox were supposed to be able to bounce right back with their series opener against the White Sox on Friday. Weather is not going to allow that to happen. As has been expected for the last couple of days, Friday’s game has been rained out. They’ll make it up as part of a doubleheader on Sunday at 5:10 PM ET. The first game will be as scheduled at 1:10 PM ET.
Tonight’s game has been postponed & will be played on Sunday at 5:10pm ET.— Red Sox (@RedSox) April 16, 2021

As I said, this had been in the cards for days as forecasts have been showing pretty consistently that this game wasn’t going to happen. It provides another day of rest as the Red Sox just came back from Minnesota. Nick Pivetta will presumably get the start on Saturday, with Tanner Houck likely being called upon to start one of the games on Saturday, with Martín Pérez starting the other. Of course, the doubleheader will be another pair of seven-inning games.
