2021 Red Sox Superlatives: Who will be the unsung hero?

This is annually my favorite category.

We are now just five days away from the start of the regular season, which seems both impossibly short and also a long time coming. With the start of the season, we now turn to one of our preseason staples here at OTM: The superlative prediction polls. Throughout the next few days, we’re going to have two polls a day to vote on the following categories: Team MVP, Team Cy Young, Defensive Wizard, Most Surprising Player (in a positive sense), Most Disappointing Player, and Unsung Hero.

Now, we finish out our three-day voting extravaganza with the category that is my favorite year in and year out. It is my favorite because it is pretty much impossible to predict. We’re talking about the Unsung Hero of the team, the guy who (hopefully) helps the Red Sox keep their heads above water, or catapult them to a slightly higher place on the win curve. Every team needs the stars to perform to reach their potential, but a role player quietly producing can take them to the next level. That’s the guy we’re looking for here.

As will be the case for all of these, just vote for your selection below. If your answer is not one of the options, drop a comment and I’ll add them into the poll. On Wednesday, we’ll wrap up by revealing the community selections along with the staff selections.
