Welcome back to another episode of The Over The Monster Podcast. As always, it is myself (Matt) being joined by Bryan as we discuss the upcoming season. We start off today’s episode by talking about the news from Tuesday about LeBron James becoming a part-owner of the Red Sox. We also talk about them taking on a $750 million investment into Fenway Sports Group and speculate wildly about what that could mean.
From there, we move on to the news on Danny Santana’s foot infection, which looks like it will keep him out for some time. Alex Cora just keeps saying “a while,” so it’s hard to know exactly what that really means. But it does make it more likely that Michael Chavis will start the season in the majors, and we discuss his hot spring. We also speculate quickly on what the Santana injury could theoretically mean for Jarren Duran’s timeline.
For the bulk of the show, we participate in a little draft between the two of us in which we select the most important players on the season. Each of us pick five players and we talk about why their season is so important, both for them as well as for the team.
Finally, we finish things up by answering a few listener questions, including one about Franchy Cordero’s defense and one about what position LeBron would play if he played baseball. There is only one correct answer to that last one, by the way.
We hope you enjoyed today’s show. If you did, please subscribe, rate and review wherever you listen to podcasts. We’ll see you next week.
