Red Sox vs. Braves lineups: Now in PandaVision

Old friend Pablo Sandoval faces down the Red Sox today in Ft. Myers.

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox
Lefty party!
Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox and Braves face off at 1:05 p.m. when Matt Andriese takes the mound at JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida. Unfortuntaley there is no TV broadcast for this one.

Andriese, a former Ray, will be opposed by Atlanta’s Max Fried, who has an 80-grade stoner name to go along with his 65-grade curveball. Fried, a lefty, will face a lineup including both Alex Verdugo and Jarren Duran, a first for March, as the Sox outfielders and third baseman Rafael Devers get to practice their hitting against southpaws again before the real games start.

In happy prospect news, Duran was just named the Sox’s No. 4 prospect by, behind Triston Cases, Jeter Downs and Bobby Dalbec, though I’d be surprised if Dalbec ended up as a better player, and it would not surprise me at all if Duran ended up as the best of the foursome. His reward is that he gets to bat ninth today. “Yay.”

Rounding out today’s lineups, Ronald Acuña Jr. gets the day off for Atlanta, while old, round “friend” Pablo Sandoval will bat cleanup for the Braves. You can’t get rid of him. Many have tried. No one can. We should just embrace it at this point, as well as we can.
