The Red Sox lost the first game of their doubleheader on Friday against the Blue Jays in a close 8-7 game. They don’t have much time to dwell on it, though, as they turn around in 30 minutes for the second. And if you were looking for a perfect example of how weird this 2020 season is, look no further than what we’re seeing here. This is the second game of a doubleheader that was necessary because the Red Sox refused to play amid a sports-wide protest against police brutality, it will only be seven innings in length, and to top it all off the Red Sox are the road team. Sure, why not!
Anyway, I’m trying to sneak in some dinner between games so we’ll keep this short, but it’s probably going to be another game where the offense will need to carry the load as Chris Mazza gets the start for the Red Sox. On the other side, Ross Stripling toes the rubber for his Blue Jays debut.
