Red Sox vs. Blue Jays: Not all our Rowdy friends are here on Thursday night

For one evening the Sox avoid their ample arch nemesis.

Save us, Martín.

The Red Sox begin a series with the Blue Jays tonight at 7:30 PM ET at Fenway Park behind Martín Pérez.

After dropping three in a row to fall to 12-25, the Sox now face down Rowdy Tellez, who has treated the Sox like Barry Bonds treated everyone. The Jays will be helmed by Taijuan Walker, who was acquired at the trade deadline, as was Jonathan Villar — Toronto/Buffalo were buyers, not sellers, last week, which is quite a concept. Trying to win? Why I NEVER. At least not from about this time last year, when Dave Dombrowki got the boot. Which also feels like 100 years ago.

As for new things, well, we have Bobby “Bombs” Dalbec batting eighth and playing first, while Yairo Muñoz is playing left and batting ninth. The rest is as you would expect: good on paper, but underwhelming in practice!

And now for the best news of all: Tellez sits! At least while the lefty Pérez tosses. May it be forever.
