The season my be over, but the work is just beginning for Chaim Bloom and the front office. The Red Sox have no manager, no center fielder, a rotation and bullpen rife with uncertainty, and they just lost the fourth most games in baseball.
On this episode of the show we tackle the search for a new manager first. Will it be Alex Cora? Will Bloom want to conduct a thorough search himself and choose one of “his” guys? How will we remember Ron Roenicke’s time here? We also ask ourselves what qualities are important in a manager?
It seems like the Red Sox may end up with the fourth overall pick in the upcoming draft; if the order is indeed based on 2020 record. We explore some options outside of Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker in the event that neither player makes it to the Red Sox or they choose to go elsewhere.
Is this it for Jackie Bradley Jr. in a Red Sox uniform? It sure feels like it. We discuss whether or not we want him back, how long of a deal we’d be comfortable giving him, and whether or not we think he will be back.
We also ask the following important questions heading into a busy off-season:
- Will the Red Sox bring back Martín Peréz?
- Will J.D. Martinez opt in like he says he will?
- What can we expect from Martinez in 2021?
- Will Tanner Houck and Nick Pivetta start the season in the rotation?
- Who comprises the bench on this team to start next year?
