Mercifully, that's a wrap on your 2020 Boston Red Sox. We had two series to catch up on in this episode, starting with the Red Sox taking two out of three from the orioles. In the first game of that series, Nick Pivetta passed his first test with flying colors. There were not a lot of expectations for the righty, but fair to say he looked very promising in his debut, leading the Red Sox to an 8-3 win. In the second contest, the Sox won 9-1 on the back of another strong outing, this one from Nathan Eovaldi. He finished off the season with a 3.72 ERA and is looking to carry over that success to 2021. The Red Sox dropped game three 13-1 after Martín Pérez was unable to end the season on a high note.
The three game series against the Braves kicked off in exciting fashion as the score flip-flopped the last four innings, ending in a Braves walk-off, spoiling Chris Mazza’s best start of the year. On Saturday, Tanner Houck continued his impressive run striking out 10 over six innings of work, leading the Sox to a an 8-2 win. The rubber match went the Red Sox way on the back of another good start from Pivetta, 9-1
