The Red Sox look to continue creeping back to life by going for a three-game winning streak — what?!?! — tonight against the Blue Jays at Fenway Park at 7:30 p.m., for some reason (money).
Anyhow I complained this week and the Red Sox responded. Must’ve been me. Alex Verdugo showed his spray chart magic and flashed a little glove last night and now he’s talking about us talking about Mookie Betts, or was baited into it, who cares. Hit like that, those problems are solved. Despite the two-game winning streak, they need a whole lot more of it to contend.
To that end, Verdugo finds himself atop the batting order tonight, likely for good (at least against righties). Andrew Benintendi, he of the .091 slugging percentage, bats seventh. Zack Godley is on the bumpity bump, facing down Chase Anderson. INTERESTINGLY... Vladito is batting sixth. Sixth! That’s good, right? For us?
