The Red Sox earned a series split against the Rays down in Tampa Bay in their first meeting of season. In the first game of this quick two-game set, Nathan Eovaldi took the loss for the Red Sox, despite logging more than a strikeout per inning for the first time in his three starts this season. Mitch Moorland continued his production at the place with a solo homer that, at the time, gave the Red Sox the lead but was ultimately their only run of the night. Scoring runs was again an issue for the Red Sox as they left 17 men on base.

In game two Martín Pérez built off the progress he made in his last start to pitch five shutout innings to pick up the win. Michael Chavis added a two-run homer and Alex Verdugo knocked his first home run of the season to back Perez’ great outing.

Up next for the Red Sox is a three game set against the Toronto/Buffalo Blue Jays.
