A busy deadline day for the Red Sox will conclude with a game against the NL East division leading Atlanta Braves, who took it easy this weekend. While the Sox said good-bye to Mitch Moreland, Kevin Pillar, and Josh Osich, the Braves sole deadline move was to add stereotypically crafty lefty Tommy Milone to bolster a rotation led by tonight’s starter, Max Fried. Fried has carried the Braves’ injury battered rotation on his back, leading baseball in ERA and ERA+. His success has been mostly driven by his ability to keep the ball in the yard, as he has not allowed a big fly in 40 innings of work. He’ll be without Ronald Acuña Jr. tonight after he pulled his right hamstring in yesterday’s game against the Phillies.

Starting pitcher Colten Brewer (I can’t believe this is a thing) counters Fried on the bump. Brewer has thrown between 70-80 pitches in his starts so the bullpen will have their work cut out for them tonight.

Some changes in the Sox’s lineup tonight include Christian Vázquez moving to the two spot and José Peraza camping in left field until Andrew Benintendi gets back. Peraza looks to be locked in left field as Ron Roenicke looks to squeeze Michael Chavis and Bobby Dalbec into the lineup regularly. J.D. Martinez has the day off after exiting Sunday’s game after being hit in the hand by a pitch.
