The Red Sox, losers of five straight and avowed sellers in the trade market, bring their sales platform back into the Bronx tonight when they face the Yankees (7:07 p.m., FOX).
Yesterday Tom Werner got on NESN and confirmed that the rest of the year will be spent selling off everything that’s not nailed down. It’s an incomprehensible space for a team with Boston’s resources to be in, and, if there is any justice, it will harden a generation of fans into hardened cynics like myself. I can’t do this forever.
On the bright side, Nathan Eovaldi starts for the Sox tonight. “Bright” is extremely relative here:
I just looked at the BP leaderboards and Nathan Eovaldi and Martín Pérez are running terrible DRA's of 4.96 and 5.41 respectively.

James Paxton starts for the Yankees. On the bright side, he has struggled, but that and $3 will get him on the subway and two to three Red Sox openers. He’ll probably be fine tonight. Yesterday someone on Twitter responded to the mere fact of the lineups post with “No one cares” — you know things are going great when that happens.
The Yankees lineup is almost exactly the same as yesterday’s, with Mike Ford replacing Aaron Hicks and some guys shifting around the field. Still no Judge, which is unearned mercy, because that is smoke we categorically don’t want.
Very little changes for Boston other than the perfunctory Michael Chavis/Mitch Moreland swap due to Paxton’s southerly nature, and Kevin Pillar and Alex Verdugo basically switched spots in the order. Also José Peraza is back, playing second in place of Jonathan Araúz. Get hyped!!1!1!1
