Red Sox at Yankees lineup: Enjoy it, so to speak, while it lasts

“It” is Kevin Pillar at DH.

I was so proud of the Red Sox for winning on Thursday that I thought they were back at .500 and wrote the whole lineups post around it. Matt had to come in and fix it. I’m no under no such illusion today! We are good to go. I know they’re bad.

“Bad” is overstating things a bit, but after Mookie’s throw last night I don’t see the benefit in cutting the Sox any slack today. Zack Godley makes his first start as a Red Sock (I normally contort to avoid writing/dealing with “Red Sox, but who cares!) while Masahiro Tanaka, who is good, makes his season debut for New York. You won’t believe this, but the Yankees are favored!

Here is my daily caveat that this could be the last game of the season (7:07 on FOX btw) except I kinda don’t believe that today, and only today. They’re gonna put Sox/Yankees on Sunday Night Baseball and cash that check first, so we are probably good til Monday. Not “good at baseball,” just good to go.

The Red Sox run out their first non-JD Martinez lineup of the season, with Kevin Pillar DHing and batting second. I can’t imagine needing to know more than that, but if you do...
