Red Sox vs. Blue Jays lineup: The second and final tune-up

After 28 hours or so of intraleague preseason baseball the Sox will begin the “real” portion of this surreal season on Friday against the Orioles. Tonight still beckons.

I don’t understand the Bo Bichette meme. I mean I do in the sense I know it’s a pun on his name — Bro Bichette, Miracle Gro Bichette, Sadaharu Oh Bichette, the latter two of which I just made up — but that’s all. I think the meme is ultimately about his hair, and projecting heroic dreams upon it. It is certainly worth the attention. Don’t get used to it, though, because after tonight the Blue Jays are off to somewhere that isn’t Toronto to play this season’s slate of “home” games, and the mane man will follow. Sad. He is very good and I’d prefer he stayed.

He is also playing again tonight, same as most of the cast from yesterday, though my boy Rowdy Tellez is grabbing some pine. I’m doing that Jays first again because they got their lineups in in a timely fashion, again, while the Red Sox... did not.

Zack Godley will start for Boston and make his earthly debut for the Red Sox. He’ll be opposed by “first guy on and off the waiver wire in your deep dynasty league” Trent Thornton, who has shown flashes of being the fourth-starter type Godley would love to be. It’d hard to imagine Thornton wouldn’t easily make Boston’s actual rotation, while Godley is still a stretch to work out. In the words of my editor, thanks, I hate it.

As for the Sox, Alex Verdugo is out and Kevin Pillar is in and it’s probably best on this day of our Mookie Betts contract extension, because of the rage.
