Red Sox vs. Rays Lineups: Our first look at some regulars

Not everyone is playing on Saturday, but it’s a solid lineup.

The Red Sox got their spring training schedule underway on Friday with their annual matchup against Northeastern, and today they kick off their Grapefruit League schedule. Things start against division rival Tampa Bay, who made a good number of changes over the winter. That includes the addition of former Red Sox prospect Manuel Margot, who leads off for the Rays and will be playing left field.

Boston, meanwhile, will feature a good number of players who are expected to be in their Opening Day lineup. In fact, their top six should all at least be on the roster and expect to play a significant role. J.D. Martinez is the highlight of that group as the best hitter in the lineup when everyone is healthy. Also of note is Michael Chavis getting some time at first base while José Peraza gets the start next to him at second. On the prospect side, Bobby Dalbec will also be in there manning the hot corner.

On the mound, Brian Johnson gets the start. The southpaw was outrighted off the 40-man roster this winter, but with the glaring hole in the back of the rotation he will certainly get a chance to pitch himself back onto the roster and into the rotation if he has a good spring. From what I can tell, they have not indicated who is scheduled to throw after him, nor have they said how many innings he is expected to go. This early in camp, I’d expect it to be a pretty short outing.

Here are the full lineups.
