The Red Seat Podcast: Alex Cora and the pitchers

We discuss, well, Alex Cora as well as the pitching staff.

Welcome back for another episode of The Red Seat Podcast. For this week’s episode it is myself joined by Keaton DeRocher as we talk about the latest in the world of the Red Sox. In this case, that obviously means starting with the Alex Cora hiring. Jake and myself discussed that after it happened so we didn’t spend too much time on it, but we did spend a few minutes hashing out our thoughts on the reunion and talking about what we might expect from the introductory press conference to be held this afternoon. We also look at a few potential bench coach candidates.

After that, we shift our attention to the pitching staff. This is clearly the biggest area of need for Boston, and over the weekend there was a rumor indicating the Red Sox had some interest in former Blue Jays and Angels pitcher Matt Shoemaker. We talked about the pros and cons of that potential signing as well as a look at where the pitching staff stands and how many pitchers they should be looking to add before this offseason is wrapped up.

Before we finish, we answer some listener questions that include questions about a pair of potential free agent outfield targets as well as one about the move from Pawtucket to Worcester that teed me up for a rant about MLB’s handling of minor-league baseball.

We hope you enjoyed the episode. If you did, please tell your friends and maybe even a complete stranger! Also please subscribe, rate and review. You know the drill.
