When looking at the upcoming free agents, a few names jumped immediately to my attention. Trevor Bauer. George Springer. J.T. Realmuto. These are all fantastic baseball players who would definitely make the Red Sox better.
All three would cost a lot of money. All three will also cost a draft pick. The Red Sox may not be willing to part with a draft pick in the middle of a rebuild where they pick at the top of each round.
So this week, we’re going to ask a slightly different question...
What non-qualifying offer free agents do you want the Red Sox to target?
The key here is they cannot be in play for the qualifying offer. Don’t try to say that Bauer and Springer and Realmuto won’t get a qualifying offer. They 100% will. To suggest otherwise is absurd and I won’t be party to such thoughts.
Say why you want the Red Sox to bring in these non-QO players, and what you believe they can bring to the Red Sox in 2021 and/or beyond.
