Increasing Reality of Betts being dealt

First and foremost, put me in the camp that would prefer to see Betts NOT get dealt. That being said, there is increasing smoke from the next camp over that a deal will be done, in the off-season.

Certainly the bits of rumors here and there about certain teams can all be using "sources" as leverage. It seems right now most of the smoke is from the Padres. It makes sense, they have a great farm system, and could not touch top-end prospect talent while gaining one year of best OFer in MLB not named Mike Trout. The cap it off, they could still get the pick from the declined QO AND figure out a way to get out from under Wil Myers. I hope that, all of these factors, show the NL West competitor Dodgers that the Padres are seriously in this. Padres want to be competitive this year, and adding Betts would likely accomplish that goal.

So what if the Dodgers don't bite and the San Diego deal is the best deal out there? What would it look like? Where would that leave the Sox?

Here is the type of deal that I could see:

With Margot in return from the first deal, Red Sox make a subsequent deal, with the Pirates, sending JBJ to them for prospects. The objectives of the trades that would be satisfied: add prospects to the farm, while bringing some major league ready talent, while also reducing payroll.

What are your thoughts on this return?
