OTM Open Thread 1/1: It is Wednesday

Thousands Gather In New York’s Times Square To Usher In A New Decade Photo by David Dee Delgado/Getty Images

Happy Wednesday, and happy New Year! It’s a new year and a new decade, but it’s also just chugging along in our offseason and other sports’ seasons. Along those lines, there’s no Boston sports but there’s plenty to watch. College football obviously dominates the day with the Outback Bowl (Auburn-Minnesota, 1:00 PM ET), the Citrus Bowl (Michigan-Alabama, 1:00 PM ET), the Rose Bowl (Oregon-Wisconsin, 5:00 PM ET) and the Sugar Bowl (Georgia-Baylor, 8:45 PM ET). There is also the annual Winter Classic outdoor hockey game, which this year features the Predators in Dallas to take on the Stars at the Cotton Bowl. That one starts at 2:00 PM ET. There’s also some college basketball, but no real marquee games. Use this space to discuss whatever you’d like. As always, just be nice to each other.

Thing I Like Today

I’m going to use this space to say not to get mad at or make fun of people crowding the gyms for the next couple weeks. People are trying to better themselves. Let them do it without having to feel self-conscious.
