Red Sox vs. Yankees Lineups: Bullpen game number two

The Red Sox look for a second successful bullpen game.

Going to keep this short so I can get my nap in, but the Red Sox are looking for a second straight win against the Yankees. On Friday, they cruised to a victory behind a huge day on the mound for seven pitchers, none of whom were on the Opening Day roster. It’s probably too much to ask for a second bullpen game that results in only one run, but Alex Cora and company have shown that this strategy can work at least at times. Travis Lakins is going to lead the way for Boston in this one, likely only going one inning. A lot of the best middle relievers were used in yesterday’s game, but the arms are still relatively fresh given that there are 17 to choose from, not to mention both Matt Barnes and Brandon Workman being avoided in the win. The Yankees will send out the same lineup as they did last night.

On the other side, the Red Sox at least have a chance to put big numbers on the board to make up for it if the bullpen struggles more in this one. Boston is going up against J.A. Happ, a lefty who has beat up on the Red Sox in the past. The past is the past, though, and Boston has given him some trouble more often over the last year and a half. Against the lefty the Red Sox will send mostly the same lineup we’ve been seeing against southpaws. The one change is that Gorkys Hernández will not be in for Jackie Bradley Jr. Instead, Mitch Moreland gets the start at first base with Sam Travis DH’ing, J.D. Martinez in right and Mookie Betts out in center.
