Red Sox vs. Orioles Lineups: Twenty and two hundred

It’s all about Eddie and Raffy.....and the potential departures

We all know the big story for Sunday, the final day of baseball’s regular season (potential tiebreaker notwithstanding). That’s right, folks. Chandler Shepherd is making his return to Fenway! The former pitching prospect once had some promise for this team and spent a not-insignificant amount of time on the 40-man roster. He never could crack that final level, though, and he was designated for assignment. Now with Baltimore, it’s time for the Shepherd Revenge Game, the day we’ve all been waiting for. The entire city of Boston will be watching intently.

In addition to that major storyline, there is also the whole Eduardo Rodriguez chase for twenty wins thing. The Red Sox as a team are incredibly invested in this, partially because of their admiration for the lefty’s growth and, presumably, partially because we all need something to care about. A bit under the radar due to the win chase is Rafael Devers being two hits away from 200 on the year. I predict a bunt single in the ninth to get it. Oh, and there is also the very sad reality that this is going to be the final game in a Red Sox uniform for a whole bunch of guys. I cried about that earlier today, as well. Ready or not, it’s about to be over.
