Red Sox at Rangers lineup: Tree falling in the woods

The Red Sox (83-75) and Rangers (75-83) will face off this afternoon at 2 p.m. for a Texas-style afternoon treat where the most that’s on the line, big picture, is which team gets to add a win to their mirror-image record.

Smaller picture, this is when players who rarely get a chance to play get the only at-bats they’re ever going to have, or the best chance they’ll ever have, a phenomenon described here pretty well, albeit to the NFL.
