Red Sox at Rangers lineup: Tree falling in the woods

Forget it Marge, it’s garbage time.

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Tampa Bay Rays
Lakins in!
Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Red Sox (83-75) and Rangers (75-83) will face off this afternoon at 2 p.m. for a Texas-style afternoon treat where the most that’s on the line, big picture, is which team gets to add a win to their mirror-image record.

Smaller picture, this is when players who rarely get a chance to play get the only at-bats they’re ever going to have, or the best chance they’ll ever have, a phenomenon described here pretty well, albeit to the NFL. J.D. Martinez is playing, as is Andrew Benintendi, but the long goodbye is nearing its end, and the regulars are mostly dropping like flies. Not you, though. You’re a true believer. That’s why you’re even bothering to read this. For that, we appreciate you, but not enough to dress up this game any more than necessary. To the lineups!:
