Red Sox vs. Giants Lineups: No Mookie or J.D.

It’s day number two of the Yaz Show at Fenway, with the Red Sox trying to rebound from a rough 15-inning loss on Tuesday. If they’re going to get that done, it will have to be without two of their best players and biggest names. This will mark four straight games missed for Mookie Betts, who is dealing with a sore foot. There is still hope he will return before the season is over, but that is not a sure thing by any means at this point. J.D Martinez, meanwhile, left Tuesday’s game with tightness in his groin and will get some time off here as well. In their place, Brock Holt will make his second straight start in right field while Christian Vázquez gets the start at DH. Sandy León, meanwhile, will start behind the plate. They’ll be going up against Jeff Samardzija.

On the other end, like I said it is another day of the Yaz show. Mike Yastrzemski slides to the other end of the outfield, patrolling right field for the Giants in this game. Mauricio Dubon, meanwhile, is back at second base and moves up to the eight spot in San Francisco’s lineup. Jhoulys Chacín will be on the mound for the Red Sox for this one as he continues to try and audition for a major-league role in 2020, whether it be in Boston or another organization. The Red Sox used a whopping eleven pitchers in Tuesday’s game, but they will likely be going back to that well plenty in this game with Chacín not getting a full starter’s workload these days.
