The Over The Monster Podcast-The one about Chris Sale

Check this episode out for a full discussion of all things Chris Sale.

MLB: Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Keaton and I recorded this episode during the morning of Monday, August 19th. Shortly after we finished our recording Jeff Passan tweeted out the good news that Chris Sale does not indeed need Tommy John surgery as of right now. This is good news! However, many of the themes we discuss on this podcast relate to not only the worst case possibility of Tommy John surgery, but whether or not it was the right move for Dave Dombrowski to extend Sale in the first place. We also dive into what the team will do in the possibility (now confirmed) that Sale is out for the remainder of this year. After Mookie Betts, Xander Bogaerts, and Rafael Devers you could argue for Sale as the most important member of this Red Sox team and certainly he is the most important pitcher. We spend a ton of time discussing Sale as it relates to the current team and the future. Will his contract affect the pursuit of Mookie Betts? What if he’s healthy, but is now a diminished version of himself? Should the team be paying pitchers into their 30’s? This one is worth a listen.
