The Red Sox are going for a sweep and four wins in a row on Sunday, and they’ll have a (sort of) new starter on the mound for this one. After flirting with this transition for a couple weeks, Nathan Eovaldi is going to head out for the start on Sunday. Presumably he will not be able to make a full start, but when he was supposed to start earlier this week they were hoping for 55 pitches. I would expect that is still their hope, though they’ve overshot their hopes on these kind of things a whole lot this year. So, I’ll take the under on 55 pitches and expect a best-case of three innings. Maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised!
On the other side, the Red Sox send out a Sunday lineup against the left-handed Ty Blach. On the one hand, it’s a little annoying to see Sunday lineups (i.e. multiple days off) when this team is supposed to be in playoff desperation mode, particularly with so many days off coming up. On the other hand, they are facing Ty Blach. Plus, without Michael Chavis they don’t have the same kind of options from the right side as they did before.
Anyway, Jackie Bradley Jr., Mitch Moreland, Brock Holt and Marco Hernández will make up your bench for the day. We have Mookie Betts sliding to center, J.D. Martinez in right, Sam Travis DH’ing, Christian Vázquez at first and Sandy León behind the plate. Oh, and Chris Owings is at second. Good times!
